Joe DeSena

Home: Pittsfield, VT
Education: Cornell University
Occupation: Managing Director, Equity Trading Collins-Stewart.
A seven year veteran to the world of adventure racing, extreme sports and ultra marathons, DeSena is an avid adventurer who has quickly gained recognition and credibility as a tough athlete and strong competitor both on and off the course. He has been featured in numerous racing publications, The New York Times, as well as on USA Networks for Discovery’s World Championships. DeSena has also appeared on ESPN’s show, Cold Pizza, as well as become a race producer hosting and funding numerous events including his most recent the Peak 666 bike race to name a few.
DeSena has also brought the world of extreme sports and adventure to Wall Street. “Wall Street is about relationships, and I wanted to share my love for the sport and the benefits it has brought to me with my clients and their colleagues. By training with them, I can build a stronger bond while enabling them to experience a sense of accomplishment and a reason to feel better. This line of work leaves little time to exercise and now I can accomplish both my professional and personal goals while at the same time acting as a mentor and trainer” states DeSena.
In addition to his unique approach to clients, DeSena was also a brainchild and sponsor of Expedition BVI, the first International adventure race with the largest purse in the sport at the time, an event that garnered over $1 million dollars in press. DeSena is also committed to small charitable organizations and in July 2005 he ran from Central Park, NYC to his home in Pittsfield Vermont (273 miles) in 83 hours, raising $38,000 dollars for the Hospice Care Center in Ithaca, New York. His record speaks for itself and he attributes his success by his commitment to discipline and nutrition.
